As an experienced trainer, Edward strongly believes in the pivotal role of training and education in overcoming challenges. He specializes in delivering OSH awareness training at all organizational levels. Edward has successfully conducted training sessions for over 100 individuals in Ghana, providing courses developed by IOSH, such as Working Safely, Managing Safely, and Leading Safely. His training delivery has received highly positive feedback from delegates. Edward is also an approved trainer for PECB Integrated Management System (ISO 45001, 14001, 9001) and Nebosh Certificate and Diploma courses, catering to a global audience.
Edward’s extensive network and influential position in the world of OSH enable him to bridge gaps in human capital globally. He served as the Chair and Founder of the IOSH Ghana Branch from June 2020 to May 2023 and has also held executive positions in the IIRSM Ghana Branch. As a Presiding Judge for the Risk Excellence Awards organized by IIRSM, Edward actively contributes to recognizing excellence in risk management. He is a sought-after speaker at local and international events, both online and in-person, leveraging his connections and networks to drive positive change globally.
Edward is an alumnus of renowned UK universities, including Aberdeen and Coventry, where he pursued Masters degrees in Law, Business Law and Sustainable Development, and Oil & Gas Management. With his broad skill set, extensive knowledge, rich experience, and influential position, Edward is confident in his ability to deliver impactful projects in his home region and make a significant difference in the field of OSH.
Edward Debrah FIIRSM MIEMA CEnv GradIOSH MIoD TSP is a highly accomplished Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) advocate based in West Africa. With a strong focus on enhancing worker protection standards, Edward has dedicated his career to raising awareness and improving occupational safety and health in Ghana and the wider region.
Edward's expertise and commitment to OSH have led to his appointment as an occupational safety and health content developer by IOSH, the largest membership organization for safety and health professionals. He is entrusted with creating technical advice on various OSH issues for the global profession.
Notably, Edward is the first practitioner outside of the UK to hold this critical role. Through his work with IOSH, Edward collaborates with global actors such as the World Health Organization (WHO), The Commonwealth, the United Nations Global Compact, ISSA, ICGN, and ILO to address workplace safety and health issues worldwide.
Recognized for his outstanding contributions, Edward is a senior, award-winning practitioner acknowledged by the International Institute for Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM). He has been honored for his advocacy in the field of OSH and Risk Management, particularly for his efforts in supporting local communities during the pandemic to mitigate transmission risks in workplaces and communities. Edward's ambassadorial role in promoting the benefits of safety and health in West Africa and beyond has been recognized with the President's Commendation Award.
Edward holds dual chartership with the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) and is a Chartered member of the Society for the Environment. He is also a Fellow of IIRSM and a Graduate Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health. In addition, Edward is an international member of the Institute of Directors, the Canadian Society of Safety Engineers, and the American Society of Engineers.
His commitment to professional development is acknowledged by various international associations, which have recognized him as a senior member in his profession.
